/ Erbil Sports Club management confirmed on Sunday that the delay in disbursing the dues of its football team players is due to the Kurdistan Regional Government not disbursing the club’s financial budget so far.
A member of the club’s management and the football team’s supervisor, Muhammad Khoshnaw, told Agency, “The regional government promised to disburse the budget, and in light of that, we will be able to pay the players’ dues during the next short period.”
He pointed out that “the players not receiving their dues had a negative impact on the results achieved by the Erbil team in the professional league, the most recent of which was our loss to Zakho yesterday, Saturday, 0-2, in the fifth round of the Iraq Stars League.”
Khoshnaw denied the news circulated by the media about the Erbil players’ strike from training, explaining that “the team is basically on leave today to recover after playing a strong match yesterday against Zakho, tomorrow at seven o’clock in the evening, it will resume training.”
Local media reported that Erbil players were on strike from training and threatening to escalate due to their financial dues.
