Calls for a peaceful resolution to the Gaza crisis have failed largely because of the US position in the conflict. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced this to journalists from his pool upon his return from Egypt, which he visited on Wednesday.

As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, his statements are quoted by the TRT Haber TV channel.

“Unfortunately, calls for peace remain in vain due to the negative approach of the United States of America. America says it has sent several of its senior officials to the region to supposedly resolve this issue, but there are no results. Despite this, we continue to work to ensure ceasefire and peace. Because we have no other choice. When people from the West come to us, we pose these questions to them especially acutely. We tell them: “Let’s take some initiatives, maybe we will achieve some results,” Erdogan said.

According to him, some countries that previously sided with Israel “are now repenting.” “We continue our efforts to achieve lasting peace. The world can no longer ignore the fact that the solution lies in the creation of an independent, sovereign, geographically integrated Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem within the 1967 borders. Turkey protects not only its Palestinian brothers and sisters , but also human rights, peace and international law,” the Turkish president emphasized.
