by time news

210 cellular companies in the world operate fifth generation networks, and 20 of them operate standard fifth generation (standalone). The most prominent services provided by the companies are mainly higher bandwidth, fixed wireless communication, such as high-speed Internet for mobile homes, games, and augmented reality services. This is according to the annual mobility report published by Erickson.

● Erickson’s annual mobility report for the fifth generation is full of optimism
● While the fiber optic market is booming, the fifth generation of cellular is stuck in place

The report shows that in the business sector, fifth generation services are mostly common in industry in factories, transportation, smart cities and sports. In addition, the report notes that by the end of the year the number of fifth generation cellular subscribers is expected to exceed one billion users. As of the first quarter, the number of subscribers was 620 million, with Erickson noting that due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the forecast for a year could go wrong with about 100 million users.

The growth in the fifth generation is led mainly by the United States and Southeast Asian countries, followed by the Persian Gulf countries and then Western Europe. By the end of 2027, Erickson predicts that in the US alone 90% of subscribers will be fifth generation subscribers. As for the rest of the world, it estimates that the average will be 48% penetration and a total number of 4.4 billion users. It is evident that the adoption rate of the fifth generation in the world is higher than the adoption rate of the fourth generation.

The volume of mobile traffic has increased from the fourth quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022 by 10% but has doubled in absolute terms in the last two years and reached a traffic volume of 93 exabytes.
