Erode | Principal arrested for making school students clean toilets | Students Toilet Cleaning Issue: Absconded Headmaster Arrested

Erode: The Perundurai police have arrested the Balakarai female head teacher who was dismissed for cleaning the toilets of the students.

A government primary school is functioning in Palakarai, Dudupadi Panchayat, Perundurai Union, Erode District. 35 students from 1st to 5th standard are studying in this school.

There are 2 toilets in the school. One is used by the teachers and the other by the students. In this situation, a student studying in the school developed fever on the 21st. He was subsequently admitted to Perundurai Government Hospital. Then the student cleaned the toilet of the school. He also told the doctor that he was bitten by a mosquito.

Shocked by this, the student’s mother filed a complaint with the Erode District Collector. The Collector directed the District Education Officers to conduct an inquiry in this regard. Accordingly, before the last two days Perundurai Education District Officer Devichandra and Assistant Education Officer Thanapakhyam directly went to Balakarai School and conducted an investigation.

During the investigation it was confirmed that the headmistress Geetharani made 6 students of the school to clean the toilet. After this, the school headmistress Geetharani was dismissed from the post by the district education department officials.

Based on the complaint lodged by the student’s mother regarding the incident, the Headmaster Perundurai Police Department has registered a case under 4 sections of Child Rights and Protection Act, Prevention of Atrocities Act, Unsafe Use of Dangerous Chemicals Act against Headmistress Geetharani.

Also, the police department was actively looking for the head teacher Geetharani who was absconding. In this case, the police department came to know that the head teacher was hiding in her relative’s house in Perundurai early this morning. After that, the police rushed there and arrested the head teacher Geetharani and are investigating.
