Errachidia Province: Mr. Sadiki inaugurates agricultural and rural development projects

Thus, the minister, who was accompanied by the wali of the Drâa-Tafilalet region, governor of the Errachidia province, Bouchâab Yahdih, elected officials and other personalities, inaugurated, in the Arab Sbah Ziz commune, the engineering structure on Oued Ziz as well as a structure for an irrigation canal on the road linking the RN 17 to Ouled Zahra.

These works are part of the implementation of the program to reduce territorial and social disparities in rural areas across the Draa-Tafilalet region, which aims in particular to open up the population, create jobs and improve access to social and administrative services.

This program, which also aims to facilitate access to markets for agricultural products, will benefit some 1,511 beneficiaries by opening up the douars of Ouled Zahra, Draaou and Mzguida.

In the territorial commune of Oued Naam, the official inaugurated the agricultural intake of the Kaddoussa oasis located in Boudnib, carried out within the framework of the project for the Development of irrigation and adaptation of irrigated agriculture to climate change downstream of the Kaddoussa Dam.

With a total cost of 3.2 MDH, the project aims to promote the development of productive and sustainable irrigated agriculture, to improve the living conditions of the population concerned and their income as well as the adaptation of the oasis territory to climate change and the promotion of integrated local development.

This project, which will allow the irrigation of the traditional oasis Kaddoussa, should benefit 1200 beneficiaries. With an area of ​​90 ha, it includes the rehabilitation of the main seguia over 2,600 linear meters and the construction and equipment of the Kaddoussa agricultural intake with a flow rate of 81 l/s.

The minister also inaugurated the new experimental area of ​​the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), located 13 km from the city of Errachidia and extending over a total area of ​​20 ha.

With a total cost of 30 MDH, this project constitutes a real platform for research, demonstration and technology transfer. It will house the genetic collection of date palm (453 national varieties and international varieties) and the collection of pastoral species as well as buildings and livestock equipment.

In a statement to the press, Mr. Sadiki stressed that these integrated projects aim to accelerate the development of the date palm sector as well as the sub-sectors linked to the oasis ecosystem.

“The date palm sector occupies a central place in the economy of oasis areas,” he noted, adding that these projects will contribute to the development and modernization of irrigation as well as the improvement of the living conditions of the targeted population.

Let us recall that Mr. Sadiki chaired, on Tuesday in Erfoud, the opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the International Date Fair in Morocco (SIDATTES 2023), organized from October 3 to 8 under the theme “Generation Green: new horizons for the development of the date palm and the sustainability of oases”.

This event, held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, is marked by the participation of nearly 230 exhibitors among the key players in the date palm sector. More than 90,000 visitors are expected.
