Paris, August 1. (Adnkronos) – The blue team members Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini have qualified for the semifinals of the women’s doubles tournament at the Paris 2024 Games. The third-seeded favorites won in the quarterfinals against the British duo Katie Boulter and Heather Watson with a score of 6-3, 6-1.

“We were pumped, we played a great match both technically and tactically. We were clear-headed the whole time, very energized. And we played really well in tennis so we are happy, but we remain ‘focused’, concentrated for tomorrow.” This is how Sara Errani commented on the victory.

“It will be a very tough match – the veteran explained further – they are two very strong singles players who, however, play very well at the net in doubles. So it will be a ‘tough’ match: we will try to study them a bit, to watch their matches here to see how they handle the points. And then we will see how it goes tomorrow. We definitely have more experience playing together than them, but, I repeat, Muchova is extremely strong at the net. It will be hard. We will try to do well because we definitely want to give it a shot. We are energized.”

Echoing Errani’s words is the world number five tennis player. “For now, we focus on tomorrow, we have a semifinal to play. Now we will try to figure out how to face them, but the goal is to step on the court tomorrow and have a good match,” said Paolini before passing the ball back to her teammate with whom she reached an Olympic semifinal that Italian tennis had not seen in a hundred years.

“I didn’t know that before. It’s certainly a very good result, a great satisfaction, but we still want to continue,” Errani added. Regarding the results achieved, the 2012 Roland Garros winner stated: “This is what I wanted, what I worked for all year. It’s not just about arriving here and playing well: it’s about having prepared for it and having trained hard. I’m definitely happy to have expressed good tennis so far; it was certainly the goal I had in mind, and this has helped. The desire to do well is truly great.”
