ERÚ calculator against expensive energy: They want to make it more expensive, so they advise where to save

Please enter parameters, choose a supplier and then go to it, indicates the ERO. Only by choosing a cheap supplier can people compensate for the increase in price regulated parts of electricity by 71 percent and gas by 39 percent for households from the new year. “It is an independent comparator and the regulator checks the methodology to see if it really calculates correctly,” Michal Kebort, ERO spokesperson, told Blesk. You can find the comparator HERE

The price of electricity and gas consists of a regulated and an unregulated part. While ERO is in charge of the regulated (which the customer cannot influence), individual suppliers are in charge of the unregulated. And the ERO draws attention to this. “The calculator can work well for buyers who have fixed the price above the government-set price ceiling and while that will end at the end of the year, the fix will still last,” reasoned Kebort.

According to him, it pays to compare, even if you receive a new price offer from any supplier. “However, one still has to calculate whether switching to another supplier is worthwhile. That is, to see what the possible penalty is for withdrawing from a fixed contract,” added Kebort.

How many offers does it contain?

According to the ERO spokesperson, the comparison tool contains a large sample of the energy market. “Included in the comparison are the products and price lists that the suppliers have provided to the comparator operator,” explains Kebort. Specifically these are 20 electricity suppliers who provided 76 price lists and 20 gas suppliers who provided 70 offers.

Questionnaire

Are you going to save money this Christmas?

Yes, I will save this Christmas because I have to

Yes, although I wouldn’t have to yet

I’m going to spend about the same as last year

No, I plan to spend more than last Christmas

Advantage? They don’t want contact

You can find a wide range of energy price comparisons on the Internet. But be careful. Not all are fair. Some won’t really show the most advantageous offers. “The regulator comparator also does not require contact details, like other comparators. That way, no one needs to be afraid of becoming a target of marketing actions,” adds the spokesperson.

The difference is almost double

Blesk tried to enter the parameters into the comparator and got a large range of offers. They were in literally incredible price range. For 17 MWh of electricity in the distribution heating rate D57d, the cheapest offer was 77,000 crowns and the most expensive was 144,000 crowns. “This is the current market reality. The variance can be really big for individual offers,” Kebort confirmed the correctness of the calculation.
