In 1981 “Escape to Victory” arrived at the cinema: the film by director John Huston with Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, Max von Sydow and many icons of football (broadcast on Iris at 9 pm) is set in 1942, in the middle of the Second World War world. It tells of a football match between a selection of Allied prisoners held in a concentration camp and the sports team from a nearby German base. The film freely takes its cue from a real match: the one that was played in Kiev on 9 August 1942 between a selection of footballers (FC Start.) And a team made up of German Luftwaffe air force officers (Flakelf). For the record, FC Start won. 5 to 3.
