ISTANBUL: An Israeli couple has been arrested in connection with a spying case in Turkey. The couple was arrested for taking a picture of the Turkish president’s residence. A Turkish national has also been arrested along with them.

They were taken into custody on the basis of information provided by an employee of a tower near the Turkish president’s residence. An employee told police that the couple had taken a picture of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s residence at a restaurant in Tower.

Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Minister Jair Lapid has denied allegations of espionage. The couple has not worked for Israeli agencies. He said he was in constant contact with Turkish authorities and was working to secure the couple’s release.
