Essaouira: A holiday camp for 260 children from Marrakech-Safi and areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake

Organized by the Moroccan Association for Youth Education, this summer camp combines the fun and entertainment aspect with education in human rights and education in environmental protection, as fundamental pillars of the consecration of citizenship values, the promotion of noble values ​​and the emergence of a rising generation aware of its rights and duties.

This initiative aims to enable children to become familiar with the components of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and to acquire new knowledge, to consecrate the importance of teamwork and the culture of environmental protection, in addition to acquiring the mechanisms for the proper use of water. The aim is also to arouse their interest in other aspects of daily life and to develop their artistic and aesthetic sense.

In a statement to MAP, the head of this colony, Khalid Idrissi, stressed that this summer camp is part of a series of similar camps organized by the Moroccan Association for Youth Education in Saïdia, Souiria Kdima (province of Safi) and Aglou (province of Tiznit), as part of the 4th phase of the national program of summer camps 2024 “Vacations for all”.

“This holiday camp represents a space for cohabitation and education on a set of values, and contributes to the socio-educational integration of children according to an inclusive approach and human rights and education, in addition to objectives relating to the development of the child’s personality and the spirit of creativity and communication and the consecration of the culture of education to the rights, duties and values ​​of citizenship in children,” he insisted.

For his part, Soufiane Zaâdi, in charge of the educational monitoring of this camp, noted that this camp represents an opportunity for children from rural communities in the province of Al Haouz to enjoy pleasant moments and benefit from educational support following the earthquake of September 8, stressing that an educational team, which includes qualified educational executives, supervises this holiday camp, which continues until August 20.

In a similar statement, he stressed that this colony aims at the development of the child’s personality, strengthening the spirit of creativity and communication within the group and consecrating the culture of education on rights and duties and the values ​​of citizenship among children.

And to emphasize the importance of developing the collective spirit, solidarity, the spirit of group work, fraternity among children, and raising awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and strengthening the positive social participation of children and the acceptance of others and respect for difference.

The program of this colony includes a set of activities for the benefit of the beneficiaries, including swimming, artistic and thematic workshops and reading, in addition to artistic evenings.
