Sunshine, laughter, and games that suddenly turn tragic. Thirteen people, including twelve children, were injured this Saturday, June 24 around 5 p.m. during the big event organized each year in Bures-sur-Yvette (Essonne). For this new edition of “The party is in the meadow”, several games, including inflatable structures, were set up from 2 p.m. in the Grande Maison park.
According to a police source, part of one of the inflatable structures came off, causing the children and the adult to fall. “They would have fallen from a height of 2 m to 2.50 m,” it says. “As they fell, they collided with each other, confirms Jean-François Vigier, the mayor (UDI) of the town. The children are aged from 5 to 12 years old. Firefighters immediately arrived on the scene and took care of the injured. A security perimeter has been installed. Some of them were hospitalized in Longjumeau. The others, in agreement with the doctors and parents, went home. »
Three other structures closed to the public
The first elements of the investigation show that the structure would have been badly installed. What the owner would have confirmed to the police. Other games have been reviewed. At the end of April, a 4-year-old child was seriously injured at the Foire du Trône (Paris, 12th arrondissement).
