Essonne: two men suspected of repeated car theft arrested

A court hearing set for April 19

The two men, who live in the Essonne district of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, are “very unfavorably” known to the police for similar facts. Presented in immediate appearance this Thursday before the correctional court of Évry-Courcouronnes, they asked for a delay to prepare their defense. Their hearing has been set for April 19. In the meantime, they have been remanded in custody. “For these facts, we risk up to 10 years in prison, recalls a person close to the case. But the two men are in a state of recidivism. Their sentence could be doubled. »

Last November, seven men in their twenties were convicted by the criminal court of Évry-Courcouronnes for around forty car thefts and attempted car thefts in Essonne, Yvelines, Hauts-de -Seine and Seine-et-Marne. The main actor in the traffic was sentenced to four years in prison, including 23 months suspended.
