Establish more milk drop stations in Kiryat Ata: “Harm to toddlers”

by time news

Members of the ‘Hila Shalem and the Residents’ faction in the Kiryat Ata Municipality Council, Hila Robin Shalem, Rui David and Nir Yacovi, this week submitted an urgent proposal for a settlement, in which they call on the municipality to act as soon as possible to establish another milk drop station in the city. Some of the stations in Kiryat Ata were closed, and today only two stations serve a population of more than 60 thousand inhabitants.

In the proposal, the council members write that two stations are currently operating in the city, in Kiryat Binyamin and on Pinsker Street. The station in the Ben Ami neighborhood was closed three years ago, and later the Yoseftal station was also closed for renovation, but in the meantime, according to them, the renovation is not progressing.

“As a result, there is a huge load at the milk drop stations, which cannot accommodate all the young parents and the tender newborn babies. We have learned that parents and babies will have to wander out of the city to nearby Kiryats in order to receive a response,” they wrote.

“There is no reason for the residents of Kiryat Ata, the largest city in Kiryat, to be required to travel by public transportation or in a car with young children for testing and vaccinations.”

The members of the council called on the mayor to act urgently with the health funds to establish another milk drop station in the city, and suggested that the operation of the station on Yoseftal Street, which as mentioned is supposed to undergo renovation, be moved to an empty municipal building in the center of the city. Council members request to bring the issue up for discussion at the next council meeting.

The municipality of Kiryat Ata stated: “The municipality intends to build three preschool treatment centers. Sending a query every time information is received about the municipality’s future plans in order to win credit has become a method. The patients of the Yoseftal station will be given a solution in an alternative structure.”
