Watan Today: Director of the Department of Hazardous Materials and Laboratory Testing in the Civil Defense Directorate, Lieutenant Colonel Salem Bani Bakr, said that the idea of establishing a filling and storage station for medical oxygen in the northern region came in response to the need of this basic and important material in the region, which is geographically far from the capital, Amman.
Speaking to Public Security Radio on Thursday, Bani Bakr added that the station began its work with a storage capacity of 8,600 cubic meters of pure medical oxygen to meet the needs of the formations of the Public Security Directorate and the Ministry of Health when needed, indicating that the station was established and implemented according to the highest public safety standards under the supervision of engineers. Public safety in hazardous materials management in cooperation with the Buildings Department of the Public Security Directorate.
He stated that the station contains a tank with a capacity of 10 cubic meters to store liquid oxygen, which is converted into gas and transported to 20 filling lines in which workers can fill 20 oxygen cylinders at the same moment.
He continued that the station will meet the needs of ambulances in the northern and central regions for medical oxygen of very high purity, with about 200 oxygen cylinders filled and ready for emergency cases.
Bani Bakr explained that before the oxygen station was opened, oxygen cylinders were collected from all the directorates and transported to Amman to be filled, while the station contributed to saving a lot of time and effort, pointing out that work is underway to prepare special vehicles to distribute the oxygen cylinders to the sites and distribute them to all the directorates and are able to Responding to all types of incidents, God forbid
