Estee Lauder Companies Partners with National Cancer Institute to Promote Breast Cancer Screening for Thai Women

Bangkok, Thailand – Estee Lauder Companies, a renowned beauty and skincare company, remains dedicated to its mission of eradicating breast cancer worldwide. In collaboration with the National Cancer Institute, the company has launched a campaign aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and providing proactive cancer screening for working-age Thai women.

The campaign, which includes a series of educational initiatives and screenings, will provide basic knowledge about breast cancer and self-screening to over 1,500 working Thai women aged 40 and above. Scheduled to take place from October 30 to 31, 2023, and throughout November, the campaign will prioritize screening for individuals at high risk.

During the screening, mammograms will be used to check for breast cancer in a total of 240 cases. Additionally, the opportunity for cervical cancer screening will be expanded to women aged 30 and above.

Thipaporn Unakul, General Managing Director of Estée Lauder Companies Thailand, expressed the company’s commitment to raising awareness and providing screening opportunities for breast cancer. “For more than 30 years, Estée Lauder Companies has been dedicated to creating awareness about breast cancer globally,” she said. “With this campaign, we aim to empower Thai women to be proactive in screening for breast cancer. By partnering with the National Cancer Institute, we can provide free screening services to underprivileged individuals in various areas and promote awareness about the dangers of breast cancer.”

The campaign will feature lectures on breast cancer and screening, along with breast and cervical cancer screenings conducted by medical professionals. The screenings will target female factory workers and will be held from the end of October to November. Each day, 40 high-risk cases will receive screening services, totaling 240 individuals. The two target groups include high-risk women aged 30 and above, who will be screened for cervical cancer through self-sampling or by medical professionals aboard the women’s cancer screening vehicle. Women at risk aged 40 and above, as well as those aged 35 and above with a close relative on the mother’s side with breast cancer, will undergo breast cancer screening.

Director of the National Cancer Institute, Police Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Napa Siriwiwattanakul, highlighted the urgency of cancer screening to prevent the spread and increase the chances of timely treatment. “In 2022, we found that more than 20,000 Thai women were diagnosed with breast cancer, while over 5,422 women suffered from cervical cancer,” she stated. “Early detection through screening can significantly improve the chances of successful treatment and reduce the risk of premature death. Therefore, increasing access to screening services is crucial.”

Dr. Napa Siriwiwattanakul also expressed gratitude to Estée Lauder Companies and Bangkok for their partnership in promoting proactive cancer screening for working Thai women. She emphasized the importance of collaboration in spreading knowledge about cancer and providing screening opportunities for at-risk individuals.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Project, under the leadership of Estée Lauder Companies, invites everyone to join in the mission to eradicate breast cancer. Through the sale of pink products, proceeds will be donated to the National Cancer Institute to support underfunded breast cancer patients and vulnerable women in Thailand.

With the joint efforts of Estée Lauder Companies, the National Cancer Institute, and the support of the public, breast cancer awareness and proactive screening can make a significant impact in the fight against breast cancer in Thailand.]
