Milano. The meetings with the finalists of the sixtieth edition of the Estense Prize, an award based in Ferrara that has rewarded excellence in Italian journalism since 1965, got underway in Milan in the middle of this week. The prize is promoted by Confindustria Emilia Area Centro and organized by Azimut Capital Management as the main sponsor of the event.

A literary recognition that this year sees in the running, among the four finalists, also the journalist, and author, of the Alto Adige daily newspaper, Luca Fregona.

The first event took place in the Lombard capital, where Barbara Stefanelli presented her “Love Harder” in the spaces of Azimut Capital Management in Corso Venezia 48.

This will be followed, over the next few weeks and in particular in the first two weeks of the upcoming month of July, by meetings with the other finalists, always at 6.30 pm.

The calendar includes that in Verona, on Tuesday 2nd July in the hall of the Biblioteca Capitolare in Piazza Duomo 13, Nello Scavo will present his “Le mani sulla guardia costiera”.

Next appointment, Wednesday 10 July, in Turin, at Palazzo Cavour in via Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour 8, with Francesco Costa, author of “Frontiera. Why it will be a new American century”.

And so it will be Luca Fregona himself who will close the meetings with the authors of the finalist quatrain, Thursday 11 July, in Florence, in the hall of Le Murate Caffè Letterario, in Piazza delle Murate, to present his “Laggiù dove si muore. Il Vietnam dei giovani italiani con la Legione straniero”, published by Athesia.

During the meetings, the authors selected for the final of the journalism-literary award will converse with Alberto Faustini, president of the technical jury of the Estense Award.

The aim of the early summer initiative, with presentations in four important Italian cities, is to promote the territorial capillarity of the recognition, through stages leading up to the award ceremony. And speaking of awards, the 2024 edition of the Estense Prize, which recorded the record of 72 candidates admitted to the first selection, to underline the increasingly relevant value of the event, will culminate on Saturday 28 September with the final ceremony to announce the winner and the delivery of the Golden Eagle at the Teatro Comunale “Claudio Abbado” in Ferrara.
