A few weeks away from knowing whether it will play in the Primeira or Segunda Liga, Estrela, who will participate in the promotion play-offs for the Liga Portugal Bwin, announced the sale of 90 percent of SAD to the North American group My Football Club ( MYFC).

Paulo Lopo, until then majority partner of Estrela, will become a co-founder partner, along with Hugo Cortez, Ivan Braz and Paul Roy (shareholder of Galaxy Racer, owner of 13 esports teams), announced the club, in a statement.

In the same statement, Estrela explains that MYFC’s objective is to acquire four other clubs at an international level, with several renowned investors, including Patrice Evra, a former French international, and “other international players who will be announced soon.”

Hugo Cortez, CEO of MYFC, justified the choice of Estrela for this investment: «Estrela da Amadora is a club with a lot of history and a very passionate fan base, our objective is to make the club grow at all levels, focusing on innovation technology to bring the club closer to members and supporters.»

Paulo Lopo, president of SAD, also spoke about the deal: «As president of Estrela da Amadora, I emphasize our commitment to rescuing the greatness and passion of this club in the search for a more serious football, where all players in the game are respected, institutions, opponents, referees and supporters.
