The satellite of ESA, the European Space Agency, Sentinel-2 on Thursday at 10.40 (Italian time) passed over Sicily and took an extraordinary image of the last lava flows of Etna, which from which day entered into eruption.
The image was reprocessed by amplifying the wavelengths in the infrared to better highlight the lava tongues that descend from the top. Sentinel-2 a system composed of two twin satellites: Sentinel-2A launched on 23 June 2015 and Sentinel-2B put into orbit on 7 March 2017 both with a Vega rocket from the Kourou base in French Guiana. They are located at a height of 786 kilometers, have instruments capable of seeing objects with a resolution of just 10 meters and every five days they pass over the same point on the Earth to observe the changes. The duration of the missions of seven years.
