EU accuses Lukashenko of “gangster style”

Brussels is planning new sanctions against the regime of the Belarusian dictator Lukashenko. But he unconcernedly concentrates thousands of migrants on the Polish border.

Clouds of smoke billow over the Polish border town of Kuźnica. They come from hundreds of Polish households and at least as many fire pits belonging to migrants stranded 500 meters east on the Belarusian side of the border fence. On Tuesday night they set up a camp there in the cleared no man’s land. This is visibly guarded by Belarusian security forces, so it is not a spontaneous action by the migrants.
