Brussels – Austria is lagging behind in achieving its “ambitious” climate neutrality by 2040, according to the EU Commission. The Brussels authorities announced on Monday as part of the European Semester that the planned reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are not compatible with Austria’s existing obligations. Even if additional measures are taken into account, Austria runs the risk of missing its targets by several percentage points.
