The European Union has confirmed its interest in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route together with Kazakhstan. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu following talks in Astana with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

“The importance of developing transcontinental rail, air and road transport corridors was emphasized. In turn, the European Union confirms its interest in the joint development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route,” Nurtleu said.

According to him, one of the important areas of work is the simplification of the EU visa regime for citizens of Kazakhstan. “We agreed to work with Dr. Borrell to find a positive solution to this important problem in the near future,” the head of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry explained.

In addition, during the meeting, the parties considered regional and international issues. “In particular, the challenges in Central Asia were discussed, including climate change in the region, the situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Together with my colleague, we stated the need to resolve conflicts occurring in the world solely on the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity based on the Charter of the United Nations,” Nurtleu emphasized.
