The European Commission (EC) has created a special working group to prepare for the possible return of former US President Donald Trump to the post of head of state due to concerns that this could lead to drastic changes in Washington’s policy on Ukraine. This was reported by The Financial Times (FT) citing sources, Day.Az reports citing Lenta.ru.
“The creation of the group is explained by Brussels’ concern that if Trump returns to the White House, he may suspend or stop military and financial support for Ukraine, as well as put pressure on Kyiv to agree to end the conflict on terms convenient for Russia,” the newspaper reports.
The authors of the article noted that the leaders of the European Union (EU) are also “alarmed by the position of the Republican,” who threatened to withdraw the United States from NATO or change the provisions of the alliance’s charter on collective defense “for those countries that spend too little on military needs.”
