EU energy ministers to hold emergency meeting

by time news

EU energy ministers will hold an emergency meeting later today (May 2).

They will discuss the claim that Russia’s supply of gas will be cut off if it does not pay in Russian rubles.

Russia last week cut off gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland for refusing to pay.

There are also fears that EU countries could be affected. It is hoped that the next gas supply to Germany will be cut off.

The European Union (EU) is considering imposing a new embargo on oil imports from Russia by the end of this year.

Other countries must unanimously agree to such a ban.

It seems that Hungary will not comply. It depends heavily on the gas that Russia supplies. And it has a close friendship with Russia.
