Europe is concerned that the likelihood of former US President Donald Trump winning the presidential election has increased following the poor performance of incumbent US leader Joe Biden in the election debates.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to TASS, this was reported by the Semafor portal with reference to European officials.

“If Biden continues to perform as poorly as he did on Thursday, I think we’re headed for a Trump victory,” the portal quotes one of the sources as saying. He noted that people are interested in what the Democratic Party will do next in the election campaign.

US military allies will now be closely watching how Biden will show himself at further events. In particular, some Democrats believe that at the NATO summit in July, Biden will have a chance to rehabilitate himself after the failure at the debates, which caused concern throughout the party. As another source of the portal pointed out, the summit may allow the US leader to demonstrate his leadership and diplomatic qualities on the international stage.

Recall that on June 27, Biden and Trump held televised debates in Atlanta, Georgia. According to a CNN poll, two-thirds of viewers watching the debates awarded the victory to Trump. Democrats in the US Congress began to panic because of Biden’s unsuccessful performance, in their opinion. Some of them hope to find a new presidential candidate from the Democratic Party.

The US presidential election will be held on November 5. Trump has already received the necessary number of delegate votes to be nominated as the Republican candidate for the post of head of state. Biden, running for a second term, has secured the support of a sufficient number of delegates from the Democratic Party. Their candidacies must be approved at the party conventions.
