“EU herd immunity for 14 July”

The EU does not need the Sputnik coronavirus vaccine and could achieve herd immunity by 14 July. This was stated by Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for the Internal Market, in charge of the vaccination campaign. “We will absolutely not need the Sputnik V vaccine. The Russians have great difficulty in producing it and we will help them in the second half if they need it”, he tells the F1 broadcaster. “Priority to vaccines manufactured on European territory”, he adds, stating that the EU can achieve herd immunity by 14 July, a symbolic date, a national holiday for France. “Today we clearly have the capacity to deliver 300-350 million doses by the end of June. We have the ability to achieve herd immunity for the continent by July 14,” he adds. “The doses are there”.
