EU: Inflation in the Eurozone falls

Brussels, 31. Annual inflation in the euro area is expected to be 2.2% in August 2024, down from 2.6% in July, according to a rapid estimate released yesterday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. This is one of the lowest figures since the surge of recent years and almost in line with the parameters considered to be indicative of a healthy goods and services market. Most of the items that make up inflation have recorded a decline: energy is among the most significant, while industrial goods are also falling, unlike the services sector. The encouraging data on the decline in inflation are raising expectations of a possible interest rate cut in September.
