EU Lawmaker Sakis Arnaoutoglou Advocates for Sustainable Fishing Practices in European Parliament

The MEP of PASOK, Sakis Arnaoutoglou, recently addressed the Fisheries Committee of the European Parliament, in the presence of representatives of the European Commission, emphasizing the urgent need for actions that will ensure a sustainable future for the oceans and fishing communities in Europe.

 

In his intervention, Mr. Arnaoutoglou stated that “The European Union has the responsibility to ensure a healthy future for our oceans and fishing communities. However, strong political will is required to implement stricter limits, enforce regulations, and promote more sustainable fishing practices.”

 

The PASOK MEP further highlighted the importance of consumer participation. “Consumers also play a significant role. By choosing seafood with ecological certifications that guarantee sustainable fishing practices, we can send a strong message.”
