Zelensky met with European Union officials

The main leaders of the European Union showed this Friday (3) support for Ukraine’s accession procedures to the bloc during a summit with President Volodymyr Zelensky, in Kiev.

In addition to the Ukrainian, the meeting was attended by the presidents of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and of the European Council, Charles Michel.

“The Commission will support you every step of the way, we will record every improvement and it should be noted that you are doing all this in the middle of a war”, noted von der Leyen, who said she was “sure” that Ukraine will rise ” the pace” of reforms.

Michel writes on his Twitter account that Ukraine will receive support “every step of the way on its journey to the EU”.

Zelensky, for his part, said that accession negotiations should start “this year” because “each step towards Ukraine’s greater integration into the EU is a source of inspiration for our people”.

For Zelensky, the “important and fruitful” summit proves “very clearly that Russia will not be able to break us, citizens of Ukraine and all Europeans”.
