EU Parliament approves gas and nuclear energy classification as sustainable – European Commission

Brussels/Strasbourg – The EU Parliament has voted in favor of classifying gas and nuclear power as climate-friendly investments under certain conditions. Of the MEPs present in Strasbourg on Wednesday, 328 voted in favor of the so-called taxonomy presented by the EU Commission, 278 against, and 33 abstained. The regulation should therefore come into force at the beginning of 2023. In this case, Austria had already announced that it would take legal action before the European Court of Justice (ECJ).
