The number of jobs created in USA was revised sharply downwards for the year fiscal which ended at the end of March, a fall that is explained exclusively by the data of the private sector, as reported yesterday by the Department of Commerce.

The preliminary information for the last fiscal year indicates that the US economy created 818 thousand jobs less than the figures considered so far.

This correction of the estimate represents a decrease of 30% with respect to the initial data of 2.9 million jobs, collected in a year to last March.

Although revisions to employment statistics are quite frequent in USA, This is a much higher adjustment than last year, for example.

The descent is particularly important in the services sector, which accounts for almost half of the total (-358 thousand jobs); but also the hotel and restaurant sector (-150 thousand) and the manufacturing industry (-115 mil).
