South Korea holds presidential election The election was marked by a bitter rivalry between the ruling Democratic Party’s candidate, Li Jae Myung, and Yoon Suk of the People’s Power Party.

A total of 14 candidates contested in this election. About 4 crore 40 lakh voters were eligible to vote. Once the polling was over, the counting of votes began. Following this, Yoon Chuck of the People’s Power Party won with 48.59 percent of the vote, according to the country’s election commission. Competing Democratic candidate Lee Jae Myung lost by 47.80 percent of the vote.

In this context, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Eun-suk-yol on his election victory in South Korea.

He took to Twitter to say, “I heartily congratulate Eun-suk-yo on his election victory as President of South Korea. I look forward to working with him to further expand and strengthen the Special Strategic Partnership between India and the Republic of Korea. ”
