The Norway of Erling Haaland, the star striker of Manchester City, can no longer hope to play Euro 2024 in Germany, even through the play-offs, according to UEFA regulations. Third in qualifying group A behind Spain and Scotland, who have validated their ticket for the tournament (June 14-July 14), Norway is also out of the race through the play-offs, reserved for the highest ranked teams in the last Nations League (2022-2023).

Still no international competition with Norway for Haaland

Only 4th best second in path B of this competition, the selection of Haaland and Martin Odegaard can no longer appear among the four drafted: Israel, Bosnia and two teams between Finland, Iceland and Ukraine. The latter nation can still qualify directly if it beats Italy on Monday.

Norway has not played in an international competition since Euro 2000. For the 2024 edition, two thirds (16 out of 24) of the qualified countries are now known. Four more tickets will be distributed by the end of the group stage on Tuesday. The last four will be among the 12 nations called to compete in the play-offs next March. We already know the identity of seven of them: Bosnia, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Luxembourg as well as the Poland of Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski.
