Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Parliamentary Forum: Call for ethical use of AI

by times news cr

The speakers at this meeting, organized under the theme “Entrepreneurship in a digital world and the challenge of AI” unanimously affirmed that AI represents a lever for innovation in the world and an opportunity to rethink existing economic models, specifying, however, that all these applications must be used in an “ethical and responsible” manner.

In this sense, they highlighted the role of researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs in creating ethical and fair technological systems that comply with current security standards and legal regulations.

These digital policy experts further explained that AI is based on the principles and knowledge developed by human intelligence, noting that this creates a certain collective responsibility for each individual, whether a politician, an entrepreneur, a technology developer or a citizen.

Furthermore, these experts noted the impact of new technologies and AI on society and different sectors of activity, particularly the health and education sectors, stressing the need for democratization of AI and the adoption of a thoughtful approach, integrating both the advantages it offers and taking into consideration its challenges.

To this end, they called on companies that integrate AI into their products and services to ensure that these technologies are used in a “vigilant and responsible” manner, while encouraging them to adopt ethical practices that promote sustainable and inclusive development to maintain the trust of users and the general public.

Initiated by the Chamber of Advisors and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (APM), under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Region (11 and 12 July) represents an ideal opportunity for parliamentarians and founding partners of the APM to interact with political and economic actors from the public and private sectors, as well as with academia and civil society.
