The Spanish authorities will oblige smartphone manufacturers to warn that their products may be harmful to health. The publication The Next Web drew attention to this, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
According to media writers, the recommendations from local authorities come amid growing concerns about the consequences of young people using smartphones. First of all, experts call the hobby for gadgets a “public health epidemic” and call for limiting them among children. Thus, the authorities propose to completely ban phones for children under 3 years of age.
Among other things, the 250-page document describes a proposal according to which smartphones and other equipment will receive labels warning buyers of harmful health effects. Similar warnings should appear when running certain applications. TNW journalists compared the labeling with images of sick people on cigarette packs, but suggested that the pictures should be “not so extremely scary.”
The publication’s journalists recalled that in June the Spanish government introduced a bill that would require the mandatory activation of parental control functions on children’s gadgets. Local officials also proposed raising the minimum legal age for registering on social networks from 14 to 16 years.
