European stock markets closed today’s trading session mostly down, although not by much, following the trend of stock markets in Asia, reports CNBC.

London’s FTSE 100 added 9.49 points, or 0.12 percent, to 7,669.23.

In Frankfurt, the DAX fell 68.24 points, or 0.38 percent, to 17,746.27.

Paris’ CAC 40 shed 8.28 points, or 0.1 percent, to 8,019.73.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 closed down 0.4 percent, with most bourses and sectors moving into negative territory. Shares in technology companies led the losses, falling 2.1 percent, while shares in food and beverage companies rose 0.3 percent.

Shares in Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank ended the day down 7.4 percent, under pressure from concerns that the United States is preparing sanctions as it continues to do business in Russia. Telecom Italia’s shares fell by 4.4 percent after analysts warned that the level of debt it expects after the sale of its fixed network remains above expectations, writes BTA.
