Israel’s women’s water polo team defeated the Czech team today (Tuesday) at 5:18 in the ranking matches of the European Championship held in the Netherlands. Maria Bogachenko excelled with seven goals. Following the victory, Israel will play next Thursday (2:30 p.m.) against Serbia in the competition for places 9-10.

Shortly after the women’s victory, the men’s team lost 14:8 to Germany in a game that sealed the group stage. The day after tomorrow (18:45) the Blues will play the Whites against the team that will finish third in Group D as part of the ranking games 13-16.

In the game of the women’s team, similar to the game against Great Britain, this time the first quarter was close and ended with a score of 3:3, with Maria Bogachenko, Tahal Levy and Veronika Kordonskaya scoring for Israel. A completely one-sided second quarter ended with an Israeli quartet of Bogachenko (double) and Hila Futorian (double), and at halftime 3:7 blue and white.

A weak offensive third quarter of the team ended with a 6:12 advantage for the Germans when the Israeli goal was scored by Roni Gross.
