by time news

Gigliola Cinquetti will be among the protagonists of the grand finale of’Eurovision Song Contest 2022. On Saturday 14 May, one of the most famous representatives of Italian song in the world will return to perform for the Eurovision audience. On the stage of the Pala Olimpico in Turin, Cinquetti will bring her timeless ‘I have no age (to love you)’, the song that, in 1964, saw her triumph twice, as first Italian artist to win the competition, and, at the age of only 16, as the youngest singer ever to get on the podium.

The performance that awaits the audience of the Eurovision Song Contest is the artist’s fourth in the competition, which he returned to participate in in 1974 in Brighton, with “Yes”, coming in second place after ABBA, and which he led for Rai in 1991 from the Cinecittà studios, after the victory of Toto Cutugno in 1990. With this new performance by Gigliola Cinquetti – a real trait d’union between all the editions that saw our country as the protagonist of the contest – this will close a story that, through the guests already announced by Rai, will retrace some great moments of Italy at Eurovision.

The spectator of the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest – broadcast on Rai 1 on 10 and 12 May (with the two semifinals) and on 14 May, with the grand finale – will be immersed in a theater of wonders. Organized by the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), the main world alliance of Public Service Media – with Rai as Host Broadcaster (Guest Broadcaster) – and with the international conduct of the show entrusted to Laura Pausini, Alessandro Cattelan and Mika, this edition will see participate 40 countries: Italy will compete with the Mahmood & Blanco duo and the song “Shivers”, which triumphed at the 72nd edition of the Sanremo Italian Song Festival. As well as on Rai 1 with the commentary by Gabriele Corsi and Cristiano Malgioglio, with the participation of Carolina Di Domenico, the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will also be broadcast by Rai Radio 2 and available on RaiPlay.
