Eden Golan, Israel’s Eurovision representative, said on her Instagram that she had to disguise herself during her stay in Sweden to avoid being recognized. “It’s sad that we have returned to the times when a Jewish and Israeli woman has to hide to avoid being hurt,” she said.
“It’s been two months since the Eurovision final. Two months since that crazy journey that became my national and personal mission. A journey that was emotional, powerful, complex, challenging and formative in a year that I knew would be different from any other,” Golan shared.
Eden said that when the delegation went on a trip to Sweden, she disguised herself and hid her identity: “Many people know that we were surrounded by the best security guards to protect our delegation, but they don’t know about the times when I had to disguise myself to avoid danger when we went out on the street,” Golan said.
“It is sad that we have returned to the times when a Jewish and Israeli woman is forced to hide to avoid harm. For me, it was a moment that I will never forget. I know that better days will come. I pray every day that they will come. We will never forget what we have experienced, but I hope that we will all become stronger and unite,” concluded Eden Golan.
