Luxembourg is making an impressive comeback at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden after an absence of 31 years.
Luxembourg, who have competed at Eurovision since 1993, return with an uplifting track from young Tali entitled ‘Fighter’ and will appear in the first semi-final in a bid for a place in the grand final on Saturday (11/05).
This means that 24-year-old Tali, who represents Luxembourg, has never seen her country perform live at Eurovision. But this year will be the first time she will see it and even experience it up close representing her country.
Tali’s ‘Fighter’ for Luxembourg
Luxembourg has participated in Eurovision 37 times since its debut in the first contest in 1956 and has won five of them. After finishing among the bottom seven countries in 1993, it was relegated and unable to compete in 1994. The country did not return to the competition in 1995 and did not participate for the next three decades.
The story of “Fighter”
Although Tali submitted four songs in her Eurovision entry, Fighter was not among them. It’s a song that was given to her along the way, but as soon as she heard it, as she described, the lyrics “spoke” to her heart.
“I was surprised when I heard it, because it was my story in a song. I found it so cool and young, and I also enjoyed that it had reggaeton bits in it. I fell in love with it,” the 24-year-old recently said.
The bets
While the Luxembourg side of the competition is undeniably uplifting, it is quite low in the predictions, with the betting placing 24-year-old Tali’s ‘Fighter’ in 27th place, indicating that the battle for qualification will be tough.
Regardless of the result, the 24-year-old has the honor of representing her country in the big comeback after 31 years, which has excited Eurovision fans.
