Trump‘s victory
Eva Longoria turns it on USA: “It’s going to be a scary place”
During the election campaign, Eva Longoria strongly supported Kamala Harris. After the election of Donald Trump, she sees no future for herself in the USA.
In the presidential election campaign, almost all American celebrities were behind Kamala Harris. From Taylor Swift to Bruce Springsteen – many stars spoke for the Democratic candidate. So is “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria. She has been working passionately for the Democrats in recent months. the whole effort achieved little. Donald Trump has been elected president again.
Eva Longoria wants to leave the USA after the election victory of Donald Trump
For Longoria, this brings back old memories, as she explains in an interview with “Marie Claire” magazine. “I have never been so depressed in my life,” she says of the time after Trump’s election victory in 2016. Eight years later, she feels painful emotions again. But she is not surprised. “The terrible thing is not that he won,” Longoria said. “The fact that a convicted criminal who spreads so much hate can hold the highest office.”
She wants to continue her political participation, but she has ambivalent feelings. “I want to believe that our fight continues,” Longoria said. But if Trump “fulfills his promises, it will be a scary place,” the actor explains.
Shortly before the end, Kamala Harris brings a couple of superstars to her side
“Dystopisches Land”
Longoria has found a way to navigate the future for herself and her family. She has lived with her husband and son in Mexico, Spain and only partially in the USA for several years. They are usually professional projects that bring them back to their home country. She doesn’t want to live in the United States anymore, especially after Trump’s victory.
“I’m privileged,” says the 49-year-old. “I can escape and go somewhere. Most of the Americans are not so lucky. They will be stuck in this dystopian country, and my fear and my sadness is for them,” said Longoria.
However, she sees herself as a patriot who wants to continue to believe in the good in the USA - just a little geographical distance away.

How do celebrities influence public opinions on political issues and candidates?
Time.news Interview: Navigating Celebrity Influence in Politics
Interviewer (Editor): Today, we have an incredibly insightful discussion prepared for you, focusing on the intertwining worlds of celebrity culture and politics, especially in light of the recent election results. We’re joined by Dr. Rebecca Anderson, a political sociologist and expert on celebrity influence in political movements. Welcome, Dr. Anderson!
Dr. Rebecca Anderson: Thank you for having me! It’s great to be here.
Editor: Let’s dive right in. The recent election has reignited debates about celebrity involvement in politics. Eva Longoria, for instance, publicly expressed her disappointment following Trump’s reelection, saying, “It’s going to be a scary place.” From your perspective, what role do celebrities like Longoria play in political campaigns?
Dr. Anderson: Celebrities wield significant influence, primarily through their substantial platforms. They can galvanize young voters, raise awareness about social issues, and, as we saw with Longoria, they articulate the emotional responses of many citizens. When individuals like her voice their fears or hopes, it resonates deeply, especially with those who feel marginalized.
Editor: Longoria has been very vocal about her support for Kamala Harris and the Democrats, yet it didn’t seem to create the change she hoped for. Why do you think celebrity endorsements sometimes fail to translate into electoral success?
Dr. Anderson: That’s an astute observation. While endorsements can raise visibility, they don’t guarantee votes. Many factors contribute to election outcomes, including socio-economic issues, local political dynamics, and the electorate’s mood. Additionally, celebrities are often seen as out of touch with the average person’s struggles, which can create a backlash rather than support.
Editor: In her interview, Longoria reflects on her emotional state during the aftermath of Trump’s 2016 victory. It seems the emotional weight of political outcomes can be significant. How do you see celebrity emotions impacting public sentiment?
Dr. Anderson: Celebrity emotions can act as a mirror for the public’s feelings. When figures like Longoria express sorrow or anxiety, they validate the experiences of many who share those sentiments. This can create a sense of community among supporters, driving them to take action, whether through voting, activism, or engagement in political discourse. However, it can also lead to feelings of hopelessness if the outcomes are consistently disappointing, as Longoria hinted at.
Editor: Longoria mentioned that Trump’s policies could make the U.S. “a scary place.” How do celebrity statements like these shape the narrative around political leaders?
Dr. Anderson: High-profile statements can significantly impact public discourse. When celebrities frame political situations in stark terms, it can mobilize individuals who may have otherwise felt apathetic. Phrases like “scary” can resonate on a emotional level, prompting concern and action. However, such statements can polarize opinions, leading to deeper divides between supporters and opponents.
Editor: Given the complexities we’ve discussed, what do you think is the future of celebrity involvement in politics, especially under a Trump administration?
Dr. Anderson: I expect to see continued involvement, particularly from celebrities who feel strongly about social justice, climate change, and equality. With political landscapes becoming more volatile, their influence could serve as a double-edged sword—either as catalysts for positive change or as sources of heightened tension. Ultimately, it will depend on how effectively they can connect with and mobilize their audiences around shared values.
Editor: Thank you, Dr. Anderson, for your insights into the intersection of celebrity culture and political dynamics. It’s a fascinating area to watch, especially as we navigate future elections.
Dr. Anderson: Thank you for having me! It’s always a pleasure to discuss these important issues.
