The Knesset Labor and Social Security Committee approved an agreement between the Ministry of Economy and the National Insurance Service to provide a replacement monthly benefit for unemployed evacuees who have exhausted their entitlement to standard unemployment benefits.

Davar reports this.

This right will continue to apply for a period of 30 to 90 days after the completion of the evacuation. The amount of this benefit will be calculated based on the last month’s unemployment benefit multiplied by the days of unemployment in that month, excluding Saturdays and holidays.

It was also determined that this agreement should be extended until August, instead of the original proposal until March, with the possibility of a subsequent extension. The right to receive benefits also applies to evacuated citizens over 67 years of age who were employed before the evacuation.

Additionally, the agreement establishes an adaptation period for evacuees returning home. From the date the government decides to return residents, they will continue to receive benefits for 30 days. If a phased return is decided, the period will extend to 90 days.

According to the terms of the agreement, residents of Sderot and other localities such as Zikim, Mefalsim, Reim, Nir Yitzhak, Pri-Gan, who were allowed to return from the beginning of January and the end of February, respectively, will remain eligible for benefits until the end of March.
