Evangelist Hans Schmidt was shot in the head while preaching on the corner of two avenues, and is hospitalized in serious condition, with small signs of improvement. The pastor of his church went public to say that Satan’s fury will not stop them from continuing to announce the Gospel message.

Gary Marsh, pastor of Victory Chapel First Phoenix, said his church will never stop preaching on the streets, even with the delicate situation faced by evangelism leader Hans Schmidt, who was shot while preaching hours before a service.

The pastor gave a brief update on Hans’ health during the service last Wednesday, November 22: “It’s ups and downs. He’s not out of the woods yet, folks. He is showing signs that he is recovering, but is not out of the woods yet. We just need to continue to intercede for him and [sua esposa] Zulya, who is very shaken.”

“We have stood on the same corner for the last two consecutive nights in large numbers to make a statement: Satan, you will not stop us. We do not wish bad things on the attacker, but we pray that he will at least be found and that the legal system will deal with him,” said Pastor Marsh.

“We will not hunt for his head, but let the law take care of him. Let it come to light and let it be discovered who he, she – whatever it is – becomes known. We will never stop doing God’s work,” he reiterated. The police are still investigating the case and are looking for clues to identify the shooter.

The crime against the evangelist cannot corner the church, the pastor insisted: “We will never stop preaching in the streets. We will never stop evangelizing and sharing the Gospel. We will never stop proclaiming the name of Jesus to a lost world […] I give my word, and even if I’m not around, the guy who follows me will be more radical than me; just plan for it. That’s what we are. This is who we are as a brotherhood,” he promised.

After the news of the attempted murder spread around the world, around 100 people from various churches gathered on Friday, November 17, to preach on the corner where the crime was committed and also to express support for Hans’ family, according to information from the portal The Christian Post.

“We saw people saved that night. I know at least two people who were saved. It may have been more than that,” said a member of Victory Chapel First Phoenix.

The next day, other people also gathered to show support, some coming from other churches near and far: “Probably 80 to 100 people were present on all four street corners proclaiming the Gospel, letting them know that Jesus is still alive, no matter what our circumstances are,” the church member added.
