Except that this entertaining wedding moment was an unexpected success, with nearly 1.5 million views in 48 hours on Tik Tok. Amid the 1,500 comments, McDonald’s did not forget to take advantage of this buzz by congratulating the bride and groom and waiting for “the nugget wedding”. “The goal was not to create buzz. I posted this to make people laugh,” defends the young groom.
300 sandwiches prepared in record time
Thomas Billaudeau, 27, and his wife Ophélie (25), explain to Le Parisien why they opted for this original meal. “We chose that as a joke. Those around us know that we really like this kind of meal. And above all, we didn’t have a big budget,” explains the warehouse salesman.
Originally from Val-d’Oise, the couple decided to celebrate their union with their 45 guests in Beauvais (Oise), where they had knowledge to save money on the reception room. “We looked at the prices of certain caterers, but I am complicated when it comes to food. I was afraid of paying dearly for not liking it. So, even if it means paying, you might as well have fun,” adds Ophélie, marketing assistant.
They say they met the director of the Beauvais-Tillé restaurant in March to find out the feasibility of the project. They are then recommended for quantities. An outfit was even provided to one of the guests, an accomplice, who collected this enormous order. In total, dozens of sandwiches, burgers, wraps and nuggets will be ordered for an amount exceeding 1,000 euros, according to the bride and groom.
“This exceptional order led to special mobilization to ensure the production of more than 300 sandwiches in a very short time,” we confirm from the restaurant concerned, which had to produce almost all the burgers on its menu. In Indonesia, since this summer, the famous fast-food chain has also been offering wedding menus.
“We didn’t focus everything on the meal,” admits Ophélie. We were a little afraid of the reaction of certain aunts and uncles. They had a little trouble at first, but everyone ate eventually.” And left with a unique memory of this wedding.
