baseless rumors of insecurity.

The President of the Republic took advantage of this opportunity to inform the population about this very fruitful mission during which he had the opportunity to meet higher authorities including his counterparts from Brazil, Cuba, South Korea, Vietnamese Prime Minister, the Ugandan Vice-President, and the Secretary General of the United Nations.

In Cuba, in addition to the G77+ China Summit, the Head of State visited 16 Burundian students who are specializing in medicine there. They did not hide their satisfaction with the strengthening of cooperation ties between Burundi and this country on the American continent. The Cuban President pleaded for the opening of a Burundian embassy; which will facilitate bilateral relations between the two countries.

It was also an opportunity for the Burundian Head of State to visit organic development projects to draw inspiration from them.

On the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly organized under the theme “restoring confidence and reviving solidarity: accelerating action taken to achieve the 2030 agenda and its SDGs in favor of peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all”, he had the opportunity to meet higher authorities including his counterparts from Brazil, South Korea, the Vietnamese Prime Minister, the Ugandan Vice President, the Secretary General of the United Nations and the President of the General Assembly.

President Ndayishimiye met his Brazilian counterpart with whom he discussed agropastoral projects. He therefore decided to send the Minister in charge of agriculture and livestock, technicians from the said ministry and young people involved in this development sector to learn more about the ways and means of boosting this sector in Burundi.

He also met the South Korean President: strengthening bilateral relations was on the agenda of the discussions. It is a country, he said, that could inspire Burundi to see the Korean Miracle told in the history of this country.

He also encouraged, via Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, investors from his country, while recognizing their role in communications in Burundi. The latter then invited the Burundian President to visit Vietnam where he could meet with him who will subsequently approve the signing of cooperation agreements.

The other personality received in audience was the Vice-President of Uganda Mrs. Jessica Alupo, who brought him an invitation from his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, inviting him to the next G77+ China Summit, which will be held in Uganda on 20 as of January 23, 2024.

President Ndayishimiye met with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres. They discussed 100,000 tonnes of chemical fertilizers promised to Burundi by Russia and which must pass through the World Food Program (WFP in acronym). They also spoke about peace and security in the DRC and Somalia.

The Burundian Number One finally met the President of the General Assembly Mr Dennis Francis with whom they discussed the efforts made by Burundi aimed at meeting global challenges in particular the climate crisis, the empowerment of young people and women and maintaining peace and security. He asked him for opinions and considerations that could inspire him during his mandate.
