Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s story of the same name, The Fall of the House of Usher is an eight-episode miniseries directed by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass). Chemistry Lessons (on Apple TV+ from Friday 13 October)

Elizabeth dreams of becoming a scientist. But in the United States of the 1950s, this option was not foreseen (remember The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel?). Fired from the laboratory where she works, Elizabeth agrees to host a cooking television program. If she can’t be a scientist, she thinks, she can teach American housewives (and not just them) something different from the usual recipes. Based on the best-seller by Bonnie Garmus, Chemistry Lessons stars Oscar winner Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) in the title role. The first two episodes will be available from Friday 13 October on Apple TV+.

Goosebumps (on Disney+ from Friday 13 October)

After a TV series in the nineties and two films in 2015 and 2018, another serial adaptation for Robert Lawrence Stine’s horror novels (translated into 32 languages, 400 million copies sold). The new version of Goosebumps, ten episodes in total, is taken from five books in particular: Photos from the Future, The Cursed Mask, The Clock of Destiny, Creeping Vengeance and The Talking Puppet. At the center of the story are five high school kids who investigate the disappearance 30 years earlier of the teenager Harold Biddle. The research will reveal dark secrets from their parents’ past. The cast of the series includes Justin Long, Rachael Harris and Zack Morris (no, it has nothing to do with the legendary character of Bayside School).

Frasier (on Paramount+ starting Friday, October 13)

In the reboot the protagonist moved to another city, from Seattle to Boston, and became very rich. In addition to Kelsey Grammer, who returns to the role of Frasier, some of the actors from the original show may return, but not John Mahoney and the dog Moose (both are dead). The original Frasier was born as a spin-off of Cin Cin, where the psychiatrist appeared in the 45th episode. The reboot was written by How I Met Your Mother’s Chris Harris and Life in Pieces’ Joe Cristalli.
