Dhaka Transport Coordinating Authority (DTCA) Executive Director (Additional Secretary) Neelima Akhtar urged everyone to work unitedly to bring order in public transport.
He said this in the president’s speech at the discussion meeting on ‘What to do to bring order to public transport’ organized in the meeting room of Tejgaon DTCA office on Tuesday (September 10).
Neelima Akhtar said that Dhaka Transport Coordinating Authority (DTCA) is working tirelessly to make the transportation system of Dhaka metropolis smooth, planned, integrated and modernized. Calling for creating public awareness to bring order in public transport, he further said that it is not possible for anyone to bring order in public transport alone. Everyone has a responsibility here and everyone has to come forward spontaneously to fulfill their responsibilities.
Executive Director Neelima Akhtar said, as per the suggestion of all stakeholders, to discuss with the concerned authorities to start the bus route permit at the earliest, hold regular discussions with all the stakeholders, build up capacity, introduce e-tickets and gradually convert the public transport system to automation. Action will be taken.
In the meeting, transport businessmen and other speakers highlighted various problems and challenges to bring order in public transport and expressed their opinion on what to do to face all the challenges.
Representatives of all public and private institutions related to bringing discipline in public transport, representatives of various social organizations, representatives of university teachers and student societies and members of bus owner associations were present in the exchange meeting.
