Everything for the latest Nike shoes

by time news

BerlinThe fact that a big brand is launching a limited sneaker in cooperation with another big brand is now part of the background noise in the fashion industry. Above all, giants like Nike delight sneakerheads with reliable regularity with these mini collections, known as drops. And so we can already look forward to another event of this kind next Tuesday, because then the release of the skate shoe Nike SB Dunk Low Pro in a colorful edition of the photo brand Polaroid awaits us. However, experience has shown that buying a copy will be difficult.

The limited sneaker editions are in short supply even before they appear because they are in great demand as collector’s items and are therefore often sold out within a few minutes. Many also buy the shoes only to trade them directly on the secondary market for a higher price. The Nike Polaroid shoe, which originally costs 120 euros, is already priced in at up to 200 euros on the relevant portals. Of course, brands and real fans don’t like that. Nevertheless, it explains the action that the skater shop “Civilist” has now started. Throughout Berlin, the sneaker will only be available in this store (unless you want to shop online at Nike), and a correspondingly large rush is expected for the release day in Brunnenstrasse.

For this reason, on the one hand, there is an “application form” on the Civilist website, which many retailers for drops have introduced in the meantime, and which explains quite strictly what you have to do and not do if you want to buy a pair. On the other hand, a scavenger hunt is now being organized in Berlin for followers of the Civilist Instagram account, during which Polaroids with thematically relevant motifs hidden in the city have to be found. Their position will be announced for those interested in the stories of the Civilist account. If you have found a photo, you qualify for the purchase of a shoe. Yes, unfortunately you don’t get it for free. Nevertheless, this is a fun campaign that could at least lure the sneakers faction onto the streets, despite the bad weather.

Steffen Grap

The skater scene is growing again, also in Berlin. Steffen Grap immortalized them in the retro aesthetics of Polaroid.

On the occasion of the launch of the Nike-Polaroid collaboration, an exhibition by Steffen Grap will be on view at Civilist from Saturday. The photographer and skater deals with the current development of the Berlin skater movement, which is gaining in importance again, which he captured on Polaroids and processed in collages.

The exhibition “From This World to the Next” by Steffen Grap and Polaroid can be seen from April 2nd to 16th at Civilist Berlin at Brunnenstraße 13 in Mitte.
