INTERVIEW – The singer of Et moi, et moi, et moi publishes, under this title, his memoirs (Cherche Midi). Meeting with a prince of casualness, cigar in mouth, in his Corsican refuge.

Jacques Dutronc who has just signed his memoirs entitled, And me and me and me (Search Midi), received Le Figaro in his lair at Monticello in Corsica. Free-wheeling discussion with “a rebel to everything, even rebellion».

LE FIGARO. – The first thing that strikes you about your book is its quality of writing. That’s not a “singer’s book “. How did you write it?

Jacques DUTRONC. – What I found difficult was remembering things, bringing back images to put words on them. When it comes to writing, I’m more of a take-first type of person. I quickly stopped the corrections. The more I corrected, the bigger the book grew. Overall it flowed well. I had a lot of fun finding certain turns of phrase. What novels have had an impact on you?
I really liked Jules Vallès’ trilogy: The Child, The Bachelor, The Insurgent.

Your rebellious side?
Maybe. There is also Céline:Death on credit, Journey to the End of the Night. It’s breathtaking. This punctuation, incredible. And Tintin, of course. We must not forget it. What makes me laugh is the idea that in libraries, my book will be found next to those of Patrick Modiano, of whom I am a faithful reader and with whom we have often dined with Françoise.

I wonder how my parents managed to support me. I kept doing stupid things. I was obsessed with white mice. My father took them on vacation. I had a hundred. Lafargue Raphael/ABACA

Why did you choose to write your Memoirs?
Everything in life happened to me a bit by chance. I didn’t intend to be a singer or an actor at all. It’s the same for this book. It was presented to me in such a way that I could not shy away from it. I couldn’t see myself writing it…
