FC Bayern is looking for a new head coach. But this search is extremely difficult. So how about the current coach?

More than a week ago, thousands of fans wanted Thomas Tuchel to just stay (read more about that here). The current coach is set to leave the German record champions in the summer, something confirmed by both Tuchel himself and the bosses.

The decision was made at the urging of the record champions’ management in February. And it still exists today, the outgoing coach made it clear on Friday at the press conference before the game against VfB Stuttgart (on Saturday from 3:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online): “That is agreed.”

However, the 50-year-old left one small door open: “You can terminate any contract jointly, as you can see. We also agreed in an existing contract that we would end it earlier. Anything is always possible.”

Tuchel then made it clear again: “But the answer is the same: the agreement is in place and the agreement is there.”

“That’s why this is my highest priority.”

Despite all the discussions, Tuchel sees no threat to the team’s concentration before the second leg of the Champions League against Real Madrid. They wouldn’t want to know who their new coach would be in the next five days. “Until then, the players’ interest is in tomorrow’s game and the second leg in Madrid. That’s why that’s my top priority,” said Tuchel.

Especially when selecting staff. You have to “find a mix,” said Tuchel: “We will take a few players out and adapt our workload rhythm to Wednesday.”

Matthijs de Ligt is still missing. The ailing central defender should return to training on Sunday and, at best, be an option for the second leg in Madrid. In the first leg, his replacement Min-Jae Kim made a mistake when conceding both goals. Jamal Musiala also gets a break again. The use of Dayot Upamecano (ankle) is also questionable.
