The Gijón municipal course of La Llorea will host the XXIX edition of the LA NUEVA ESPAÑA-Unicaja Banco Trophy golf tournament, from tomorrow, Tuesday to Friday, in four intense days of competition and with an estimated participation of close to six hundred players.
Those responsible for La Llorea have everything ready to receive the players who will fill the facilities during the four days of competition. The control team is reinforced to attend in person, as well as the calls of the teams that want to register, and for this reason the Competition Committee recommends not leaving it for the last moment, knowing that the closing of Registrations, for each of the four days game, it will always be the day before at 10:00.
The starting order by handicap was established for Tuesday with the lowest handicaps early in the morning; the second day, Wednesday, they will be the highest; Thursday the lowest and Friday the highest. Participating couples will receive the virtual game card to record the results in “golfdirecto”. The insertion of the results of each game pair must be carried out by a single player and always with the same telephone device.
To facilitate the game and not create traffic jams on the course, the Competition Committee has established a Game Pace Policy and a Code of Conduct, in accordance with the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, which has been published together with the tournament regulations. and which can be consulted at the La Llorea facilities and on the Gijón Municipal Golf website. It is essential that all players consult it to avoid penalties, a game schedule being established for each hole on the course. The Competition Committee also requests the collaboration of the players, that they take care of the field during their tour and comply with the rules for the replacement of “chops” and the arrangement of “piques”. That small individual effort complies with the Code of Conduct and is essential so that all players have the field in the same condition.
The maintenance team has the pitch in perfect condition. Today he will carry out a general mowing throughout the day, which will be repeated next Wednesday, in addition to the daily maintenance of the “greens” so that the players do not find differences from one day to the next with the same exits and flags during the four game days.
Tomorrow, first list
Tomorrow the first list of participants will be published with their schedules and many of the favorites will be known, who prefer the first day of the game to participate and qualify for the special “hole in one” prizes. It is an MG ZS 1.5 Luxury car, from Cyasa and an Agility S 125 ABS motorcycle with Full Led lighting, from Motorbox Gijón, to be raffled off among the players who achieve the feat of making a “hole in one” on holes 16 and 8 from the field respectively.
Many players have passed these previous days through the facilities of the Gijón field, to see how they are doing and train or simply to register for the emblematic tournament of the Asturian summer.
The prizes will be announced in the following order: first absolute champion couple of the tournament, first scratch couple, first First and Second category couples, second First and Second category couples, first senior couple, third First and Second category couples, first male super senior couple (both players aged 70 or over and non-mixed) and female senior master (both players aged 60 or over non-mixed) and first under-21 couple. The best team of each competition day will also have a prize. These prizes are not cumulative, except for “holes in one” and the winners of each of the four rounds, which will be cumulative with any other.
